FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

Christian Life Coaching vs. Christian Counseling — What's the Difference?

This is one of the most common questions I get, and it’s a fair one — the line can feel blurry from the outside.

Christian counseling / therapy is a clinical service, provided by a licensed mental health professional, focused on diagnosing and treating mental health conditions — anxiety disorders, depression, trauma, grief processing. It’s the right path when you’re dealing with a clinical condition, need diagnosis, or are working through significant trauma that needs a licensed clinician’s care.

Christian life coaching is a forward-focused relationship centered on identity, mindset, and pattern change — for women who aren’t in acute crisis, but are tired of repeating the same cycles: overthinking, people-pleasing, guilt, staying small. Coaching doesn’t diagnose or treat; it works with the beliefs and patterns keeping you stuck, and moves you toward the life and calling you already sense is there.

How to know which one you need

If you’re asking “am I safe,” “do I have a clinical condition,” or need to process significant trauma — start with a licensed therapist. If you’re asking “why do I keep doing this,” “how do I stop shrinking back,” or “how do I actually change, not just cope” — coaching is built for that question.

They aren’t competitors. Many women work with a therapist and a coach at different points, or even simultaneously, for different goals. I’ll always tell you honestly if what you’re describing sounds like it needs a clinician first — your wellbeing matters more than filling a coaching spot.
